mcpstat Library

The mcpstat Python library is designed to collect and store MCP usage data - that is its core purpose. However, it is designed with privacy in mind:

Aspect Implementation
Data Storage All collected data is stored locally in a SQLite database on your machine
Network Requests The library makes zero external network calls - no data is sent to external servers by mcpstat itself (your MCP server may make its own network calls)
Telemetry None - mcpstat does not phone home or report usage externally
Your Control You own your data completely - delete the SQLite file to remove all tracked data

What mcpstat Collects (Locally)

When you use mcpstat in your MCP server, the following data is stored locally in your SQLite database:

  • Tool/prompt/resource names that are invoked
  • Call counts and timestamps
  • Tags and descriptions you assign
  • Token counts (if you enable token tracking)

Data Stays Local

This data never leaves your machine unless:

  • You explicitly export or share it
  • Your MCP server sends it as part of its normal operation to the MCP client

mcpstat is a local analytics tool. It helps you understand your MCP server usage without any external dependencies or data transmission.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
